Good morning, everyone. Yesterday was a hectic day and night for many of our MVP staff and customers. On December 17, 2025, a severe windstorm caused power outages for 3,866 out of 24,673 MVP meters, approximately 15% of the meters in the service area. MVP crews worked overnight to restore power to affected customers. Although some customers remained without power overnight, the last customer was reconnected by 3:30 AM this morning. Many outages resulted from trees falling outside MVP’s rights-of-way, especially those weakened by the wind and saturated soils. After power restoration, it will take some time to complete final system repairs and cleanup. Fortunately, this storm occurred outside of wildland fire season, which could have prolonged outages and increased costs. Additionally, the severe wind event caused many unstable trees to fall, requiring removal to prevent hazards from escalating.
I want to thank everyone who worked hard yesterday and this morning. Electricity is essential for most families, and the teamwork shown during this severe weather event was outstanding. Your work and expertise are appreciated!
