Announcing the MVP/DHRD Workforce Pilot Project.

Workforce Investment Opportunity Act Training Positions (WIOA) For Groundsmen, Electricians, and EIM Mechanics (in training)

Mission Valley Power (MVP) and the Department of Human Resources Development (DHRD) are announcing recruitment for groundsmen (1-6 positions), electricians in training (1), and EIM mechanics in training (1) through the DHRD WIOA Program.

This pilot program was developed to recruit individuals for trade positions with one to four-year employment terms, depending on funding and position placement with MVP.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A member of a federally recognized Tribe (federal requirement); or
  • A 1st generation descendent of the CSKT (federal requirement);
  • A verified reservation resident (federal and MVP requirement). A copy of a power bill, internet bill, water bill, or rental agreement may suffice.
  • Possess a current state of Montana Driver’s License (position requirement);
  • Preferred CDL-A License.
  • Preferred 1st aid/CPR training.
  • Resume listing past experience and any training credentials that support individual experience (application requirement);
  • Income verification (federal requirement);
  • WIA job application.

APPLICATIONS AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABOVE ITEMS MUST BE RECEIVED BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON JUNE 18, 2024. Please note that this is for the “MVP Workforce Pilot Project” when you submit.

Eligible applicants must document and submit copies of the above items to traci.couture@cskt.org as part of the application process using a DHRD WIOA job application (please download), also available at the DHRD Office in Pablo. Please submit verification of the above items with your application, noting that it is for the “MVP Workforce Pilot Project” to avoid disqualification from consideration.

This pilot program allows for one year of temporary employment with limited benefits.  Union involvement may be considered if an individual qualifies for an electrician apprentice position. The training and employment term depends on which position the individual applies for.  Applicants may apply for one or all positions.

The interview will include a written test focusing on math, physical ability testing, and other screening tools. After obtaining your CDL license, you must undergo a physical exam and a drug test upon being hired. You will become a part of the MVP random testing pool.
